By the end of February everyone is getting pretty tired of winter so here’s a cheery spring inspired cake to brighten things up!
Creating a cake that looks like a wrapped gift can be done in so many ways but this daisy cake shows one of the more simpler looks that can be created with just a bit of fondant ribbon and a few daisies.
Covering the cake in white fondant and cutting yellow strips for the ribbon is pretty straight forward.
There are many ways to create bows but this is probably the simplest…
Cut 2 strips the same width as the ribbon and angle cut one end of each. Lay each strip on the cake and fold it back over itself so that both strips are crossing over each other. Then simply push the end of the loop slightly towards the center of the bow to give it some character and prevent it from falling flat.
You can also slightly lift and shift the tails of the ribbon a bit so they are not laying completely flat. Little dabs of water will help hold the ribbon in place. Keep in mind that with this type of cake there is no need to fuss too much with the ribbon as the daisies will be covering most of it.
